Another story was published. This one 'The Sermon on the Sermon' might be of interest, as it's short and about trying and failing to obey the Sermon on the Mount.

I remember that story. As with you, I don't know what to take from the experience. Maybe that generosity should be mixed with wisdom?

This sounds familiar. And I think I've read it somewhere too.

I'm not satisfied with the answer that we should be good stewards of our money and so should not give to those who are asking on the side of a road. (Not that Ben was suggesting that). And I'm equally dissatisfied with the absence of struggling with this question.

I guess I have to learn my lesson again.
